Rehabilitated Affordable Housing Apartment Building Opens in Pettigrew Heights Neighborhood

August 19, 2014

Affordable Housing Solutions and the Community Development Department of the City of Sioux Falls are pleased to announce the formal opening and ribbon cutting for a newly rehabilitated 11-unit apartment building located at 322 South Duluth Avenue. The project was a joint effort by both organizations and utilized federal, state, and private nonprofit funds to take a vacant and dilapidated apartment building and transform it into safe and code-compliant housing for income-qualified individuals and families.

The apartment complex will be owned and operated by Affordable Housing Solutions, and the return of the property to functional use is part of the two organizations’ missions to remove or renovate blighted properties from inner-city core neighborhoods while simultaneously increasing Sioux Falls’ stock of affordable housing, a prominent and growing need in our community.

A ribbon cutting for the project is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. The ribbon cutting and official opening ceremony is jointly sponsored by the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Affordable Housing Solutions, and the City of Sioux Falls. The public is welcome and encouraged to participate in this momentous accomplishment for the surrounding Pettigrew Heights neighborhood.
